Games That Nurturing Creativity and Imagination
5 Haz 2023
We wanted to share with you some enjoyable activity suggestions that you can do with your child after dinner, on a pleasant Sunday, or when you wake up in the morning. We're sure you've heard of these activities before or done most of them. We still wanted to remind some of them. Our activity today: “What's in the Sky?”
The value of outdoor activities is increasing day by day. But when we think of the outdoors, we can always think of physically intense activities. This is not like that, and you can do this activity on your balcony, in the garden, or anywhere you can see the sky. You can even perform this activity by looking out the window of your home on a cloudy day. For example, it might be great after a Sunday breakfast on the balcony. All you need is a sky where you can see some clouds.
Our activity is quite simple. In fact, many of us did this activity as children. It is one of the indispensable activities, especially on long car journeys. You look out the window and compare the clouds in the sky to some objects or animals. It's almost as fun as counting trees. Did you remember? Great! Now imagine doing this activity with your child... Believe me, the fun increases tenfold. We look at the sky and the game begins.
“Oh, look, that cloud over there looks like a car.”
The reason why we start by playing the game while being the initiator of the game is to ensure that the activity takes place in its natural flow, rather than forcing the child into the activity with a direct question. You can apply this to all your activities. Remember, this is not a game he is playing; It's a game you play together. Now we can move on to the question:
“So, what do you think that cloud over there looks like?”
"You think" is an important word. By using this word, we are giving him the message that there is no right or wrong answer here, only the answer. You may be surprised by the answers. Because, as you know very well, children do not yet have adult patterns. Even if that cloud does not resemble a Unicorn, this similarity may occur in its mind. Allow this. “I don't think it looks like it.” Or “I couldn't quite compare it.” Avoid statements like this. Instead of
“Why exactly did you make it look like a Unicorn?”
The best part of this activity is that it supports endless imagination and allows you to get to know the world of his mind more closely through the analogies he draws. It's a great way to spend time that will allow you to see closely what he's interested in at that time and strengthen the bond between you. Moreover, you can continue the game as long as there are clouds in the sky, and sometimes you can make a single cloud resemble many objects or creatures.
Before starting the activity, you may want to read our story "Cotton of the Sky'' together on Funble. Because in the story a giraffe plays this game! Reading the story "Cotton of the Sky'' before the activity will increase your child's interest in the game.
Have fun!
